Cut face up — full oil saturation, uniform thickness.
Sliced across the grain so the pore structure and resin distribution show on the face — the clearest way to judge a lot without burning it. Thickness is kept uniform so the slices stack, weigh and pack predictably. Choose by the photo of the actual batch: colour and figure differ from lot to lot, which is normal for wild material.
